It can't just be me...

Hi Pen Pals!

It has been some time since my last post for many reasons, some of which could definitely be considered excuses. Although it’s my intention to hold space for reflection with this platform, I won't dwell on that particular gap of time. Primarily because the future holds endless possibilities like war, famine, avoidable disease, and the erasure of history. Nestled somewhere in between are fun line dances, responsible social media use, degrees, first steps, sobriety, collective health movements, and healing. But thankfully, there is ALWAYS God!
I’ve recently had a birthday, and it felt appropriate to rebrand this blog. I was going to start with an introduction, but that first paragraph gives you a pretty good idea of who I am. Just for the record, I’ll add that I’m a wife, mom (to an adult, an almost adult, and someone who is very adult-like), a corporate leader, doctoral student, and on a very good day, I’d add author. Those titles define how I orient myself to the world, but the reality is I’m trying to be a biblically sound and obedient Christian seeking God daily amid the beautiful chaos that is my life. I’ve shed the primary lens of Black, Woman, and Gemini that would have dominated any conversation about my identity not long ago. They are still relevant frames for my experiences, especially in this country, but my identity as a believer in Christ has become so much larger because I get to choose it every day.
So this is me now. I’m not getting hung up on sharing tips like a typical blog, but I hope what I share creates a community for those who are navigating life with an awareness that there is a constant choice between self and God. It can’t just be me…right?
